Rick Fentin, CFP®, Ed.M

About Cambridge Financial Associates

Rick Fentin began working as a financial planner in 1985.  Over the years, he has counseled hundreds of individuals and families.  In all that time, his main focus has always been on fully understanding his client’s needs and providing advice, services and products to address those specific concerns.

Rick came from a background in human services where he worked for over eighteen years directing agencies for the mentally retarded.  He brings his experience in listening, understanding, caring and counseling to his work with financial planning clients. 

Rick was an undergraduate at Northwestern University and he earned a Masters Degree in Education from Northeastern University.  He studied at the College of Financial Planning and earned his Certified Financial Planning Practitioner (CFP™) designation.  He also has earned a CLTC designation (Certified in Long Term Care).

Rick has completed classes in Advanced Estate and Retirement planning through the College of Financial Planning and currently teaches courses on successful Social Security strategies at several community education programs.  

In 1996 he authored the Publication: "The Impact of Financial Status, Values and Attitudes on Motivation for Rehabilitation" in Motivational Strategies for Occupational Therapists Working with Geriatric Patients, Occupational Therapy Press, 1996. He also regularly publishes articles on financial planning issues local area papers.

Rick understands that many people need help but cannot afford financial services or are hesitant or nervous to talk with a planner.  Since 2001, he has volunteered his services two days per month at the Arlington Council on Aging.
